News: Additional Free Printing for Finals
In response to student requests, KU IT has added $8.00 in free printing for enrolled students to use at computer labs and multifunction device locations on campus during finals week. The funds can be used for printing end-of-semester reports, portfolios, resumes for graduating seniors, or other academic projects.
“Finals week is a hectic time for students as they prepare for exams and finish class papers and projects. Additional free printing gives KU students one less thing to worry about as they focus their energy on wrapping up a successful semester,” said Bob Lim, Chief Information Officer.
The idea for additional free printing during finals week came from a student technology consultation roundtable recently hosted by KU Information Technology. KU IT is holding the roundtables to gain feedback from students and learn how the organization can best meet their needs.
“We want to make sure that we are providing the technologies and services students need to be successful in their academic careers,” Lim said. “The additional free printing came out of our first roundtable, and shows the value of the insights we are gaining through these informal discussions.”
All enrolled students receive $8.00 in free printing at the beginning of each fall and spring semester, and $4.00 for summer semester. The $8.00 that was added to student print accounts is in addition to those initial funds. Students have until May 21 to use the balance of free printing in their accounts. Free printing accounts will be reset to the initial balance for all students at the beginning of their next enrolled semester.
