Who Can Apply?
To apply for the June 2012 Harvest of Hope Leadership Academy, you must be…
- A student entering 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade in 2012-2013, and
- Eligible for Migrant Education Services. Meaning you must have moved, due to economic necessity, from one school district to another in the past 3 years to enable you or your family to seek or obtain temporary or seasonal agricultural work. Examples: crops, feed yards, dairies, meatpacking plants. Source: Kansas Migrant Education Program
How Do Students Apply?
Download, complete, and mail the 2012 HHLA Application Packet to include:
- basic student information
- high school transcripts
- 500 word essay
- Migrant Education Form (completed by Counselor or Migrant Ed Staff)
- Release of academic records/information - signed by parent/guardian
Review of student applications and admission decisions will begin Friday, April 6, 2012.
HHLA will select 50 students, based on 1) academic/leadership motivation and potential, and 2) academic need and grade level (priority to 2012-2013 seniors and juniors). Completed application packets received by this date will receive priority consideration. However, HHLA will continue to accept student applications until all 50 spaces have been filled. Remaining applicants will be placed on a waitlist and will be notified if spaces become available.
