Science Fiction Event: Campbell Conference and Awards (Conference)

"Science Fiction and the Real World, Honoring Frederik Pohl"

Sunday June 15, 2014
All Day
Kansas Union, several, plus off campus
Since 1979. Connect with other SF authors, scholars, editors, and fans while celebrating the best SF of the year. In an intimate setting, discuss topics relevant to the human condition and the science-fiction field. Things kick off on Friday afternoon with a panel discussion about SF writing. Attend the Friday night Awards Banquet to honor the winners of the Theodore Sturgeon Memorial Award for best short story of the year and the John Campbell Memorial Award for best novel of the year. Saturday morning is devoted to a round-table discussion on our theme about the intersection of SF and daily life, followed by a book-signing event, afternoon presentations and discussion about Fred Pohl, and an evening film screening. Sunday begins with a less-structured chance to spend time with the attending guests, plus an informal afternoon get-together at a local home.
