Roy Chin, a 1988 KU electrical engineering graduate, is a Silicon Valley start-up veteran and successful serial entrepreneur. He holds more than 100 patents and is a leader in the medical devices industry, having risen through positions with Stryker Endoscopy, Cardiothoracic Systems, AFx, and SpineView, where he served as CEO. He founded and was CEO of Intrepid Medical and is founder, chairman and CEO of Chest Innovations, located in Palo Alto. More than a hundred KU faculty and students heard Chin speak last summer on How to be a Successful Entrepreneur. He returns to campus to discuss intricacies of product development of medical devices and the regulatory path necessary to get the product to market. The willingness of insurance companies to reimburse the cost is also crucial to commercialization success. Chin will address these topics in depth.
