Adding Machine: A Musical (Play)

Composed by Joshua Schmidt, Libretto by Jason Loewith & Joshua Schmidt, Based on the play "The Adding Machine"by Elmer Rice

Sunday November 24, 2013
Crafton-Preyer Theatre, Murphy Hall, Stage Too!
Meet Mr. Zero. He's worked 25 thankless years at the same accounting firm and has just been told he's losing his job because a mechanical adding machine is taking his place. Well, Mr. Zero decides to do something about it--murder his boss. Adapted from the original 1923 expressionist play by Elmer Rice, "Adding Machine: A Musical" takes the audience through the exciting ride of Mr. Zero's trial, execution and excursion into the world of the afterlife. Taking cues from the 1995 University Theatre production of "The Adding Machine," director Mechele Leon and scenic designer Mark Reaney will use technology to interact with audiences in a whole new way and examine the cost of personal freedom in the 21st century. Seating is very limited, advance reservations are strongly encouraged. This production includes offensive language and is not appropriate for younger audiences.
