Schulerkongress 2013 (Student Group Event)

Schuelerkongress is a state-wide competition of high school German students, and approximately 300 students attend the annual event. Schuelerkongress is sponsored by the Kansas Association of Teachers of German, and all German students in Kansas are invited to join in the activities. Only non-native speakers may compete in the events, but teachers are encouraged to bring native speakers to act as Bergwanderer," whom students can engage in conversation on set topics. The events include poetry recitation, prose reading, spelling competition, oral interviews, culture quiz, games, poster contest, opportunities to speak German with our Bergwanderer (and earning Kongress Geld with which to shop at the Tante Emma Laden), awards, and lots of fun. The contests start at 9:00 am and continue until the awards assembly at 1:30. Those judging contests would need to be available from about 8:30 until noon"KATG will provide light breakfast and lunch items.
